Live ‘n’ Loud Extravaganza in Big Flats, NY

Tag’s Summer Stage in Big Flats, New York was home to Tom Keifer’s Live ‘n’ Loud Extravaganza last Saturday. This show was more of a one off show with Stephen Pearcy {billed as the voice of Ratt} and Vixen. The regular tour featured Winger and John Corabi as support.

Vixen was a treat to see in the area again so soon as they had just shared the stage with Stryper in April not to far from Tag’s. The ladies have a way with the crowd slightly different than their male counterparts. Despite only having one original band member they put on a very impressive performance, as they are all individually extremely solid musicians.

Next up was Stephen Pearcy who always appears to be having a hell of a time on stage. The crowd feeds off his energy and enjoyment of performing. He has been quoted as saying that soon his touring days will be behind him, but it’s hard to imagine that being true after watching him. He surprised some diehard fans by adding in “I Want a Woman” on the setlist. Also, surprisingly, drummer Will Hunt was behind the kit for Pearcy this time out.

Closing out the night was the Tom Keifer Band. They performed a mix of Keifer solo songs as well as classic Cinderella songs. A personal highlight was hearing “Heartbreak Station” performed, after all these years. It was slightly noticeable that Keifer’s voice sounded a tad rough at the start of the show, as to be expected after a few back to back shows. However, by song 4 or 5 he was back to the Keifer we all are used to. He is undoubtedly one of our time’s greatest songwriter/vocalists yet somehow flies just under mainstream radar for the most part.
