Mike Tramp Songs of White Lion tour – Williamsville, NY

Mike Tramp – Samuel’s Grande Manor, Williamsville, NY

Mike Tramp reworked and revisited some of the most loved songs of White Lion, on the aptly named album Songs of White Lion. He and guitarist Marcus Nand then took to the road to perform them live. The 16 date tour was the precursor to a longer stretch slated for the fall with a full band in tow. We were happily in attendance on the second to last night of this run.

Tramp and Nand both played guitar however it was not an acoustic show. The rhythm section were backtracks used just as filler. Tramp reassured the audience that co-founding White Lion member Vito Bratta had given Marcus {Nand} his full approval and support.

As expected, they performed the huge hits Wait and When the Children Cry. Tramp shared a number of behind the scenes stories and experiences that helped to make the evening seem all the more intimate. At one point he joked about fans filming his every word and how he better not make any mistakes or he would hear all about it before he woke in the morning. Personally I have never been a fan of the song Radar Love, however I will say his current spin on it changed my opinion. Tramp joked that they were not going to do the “traditional encore” {run off stage and listen for the crowd to chant} because it would be awkward with the manner in which the venue was set up so he just announced Farewell to You would be the last song.
