Stryper – The Vine at Del Lago Resort, Waterloo, NY
Christian rockers, Stryper, performed for an excited crowd at Vine at Del Lago Resort in Waterloo, NY. The show took place on April 1st however was anything but a joke.
Stryper, known for their yellow and black stage attire, are still going strong after all these years. The Sweet brothers, singer Michael and drummer Robert, guitarist Oz Fox and “new” bassist Perry Richardson played songs off 9 of their 14 album catalog. They started the show off with Transgressor, off the latest album, The Final Battle. Overall, the set was extremely well balanced and incorporated new material as well as solid picks from older albums, especially 1986’s To Hell with the Devil release. Surprisingly, they did not play their highest charting single, the power ballad Honestly, but rather chose to play the b-side to the single, Sing Along Song.
I must admit, I have not seen Stryper live in quite some time and I found myself commenting, at least a few times, that they were a lot heavier than I had remembered, in a good way. Also, for that have seen them in the past, you are aware that they toss bibles out to the crowd, let me assure you this tradition continues.
