Kreator / Seplutura

Kreator, Sepultura, Death Angel & Spirit World

Klash of the Titans tour – Rapids Theater, Niagara Falls, NY

What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than at the Klash of the Titans. The tour features co headliners Kreator and Sepultura with support from thrash royalty, Death Angel. Joining the already impressive line up is up and comers, Spirit World.

Kreator – Rapids Theater, Niagara Falls, NY

German thrash band, Kreator has been around since 1982. That being said they have never played Niagara Falls, NY before, a fact vocalist/guitarist Mille Petrozza pointed out to the full house. Despite being a Sunday night, and a holiday, the Rapids Theater was full of excited metalheads. Founding members, Petrozza and drummer Jurgen “Ventor” Reil, are joined by guitarist Sami Yli-Sirnio and newest member, bassist Frederic Leclercq.

They opened the set with the title track Hate Uber Allies, off their newest release. With such an extensive discography it can be difficult making a setlist, however I must say they did a great job picking some fan favorites. The crowd went crazy when they played 666 World Divided, a song they released in 2020 but was not include on the latest album.

  • Hate Uber Allies
  • People of the Lie
  • Enemy of God
  • Betrayer
  • Hordes of Chaos
  • 666 World Divided
  • Satan is Real
  • Flag of Hate
  • Violent Revolution
  • Pleasure to Kill
Sepultura – Rapids Theater, Niagara Falls, NY

Being a co-headlining tour, this evening Sepultura went on before Kreator, but was none the less impressive. Probably best know for being formed by the Cavalera brothers in 1984, both of which have since departed. However, the current line up of vocalist Derrick Green, guitarist Andreas Kisser, drummer Eloy Casagrande and bassist Paulo Jr have been together for more than a decade.

Green is a towering figure that flawlessly handles the classic hits as well as his own. The bands newer songs blend perfectly in with the older discography. Its hard to fathom Green is not the only vocalist Sepultura has had. The band has just the right amount of aggression and anger while performing yet you can tell they are clearly having a blast in between songs, as they were all smiles. The set contained nearly half off Quadra, their latest release.

They ended the set with the classics ol’ schools fans were waiting for, Ratamahatta that lead right into Roots Bloody Roots. The crowd went crazy, showing nothing but love for the band.

Death Angel – Rapids Theater, Niagara Falls, NY

Death Angel had only enough stage time to play 6 songs while on this tour. However, those 6 songs were enough to get this crowd hyped. They sandwiched Humanicide in the middle of their set, the title track is off their last release. The band is currently working on a new album.

  • Lord of Hate
  • Voracious Souls
  • The Dream Calls for Blood
  • Humanicide
  • The Moth
  • The Ultra-Violence / Thrown to the Wolves
SpiritWorld – Rapids Theater, Niagara Falls, NY

The surprise of the evening came at the very beginning of the show. SpiritWorld. The band is relatively new, having only formed in 2017. The only way to describe them is punk-country thrash. Out in support of their second release, Deathwestern, that dropped in late November of 2022. I strongly suggest you keep an eye on these guys, I know I will.
