Echoes of Discipline : Biohazard and Onyx Resurrect the Sound of Rebellion in Pittsburgh on the Divided We Fall Tour’s Opening Night

Biohazard’s The Divided We Fall Tour opened just outside Pittsburgh with a near-capacity crowd and a genre-blending lineup that delivered both nostalgia and fresh fire. Friday night was a chaotic, high-octane kickoff that proved the kings of hardcore are far from finished.

Friday night at Preserving Underground just outside Pittsburgh marked the explosive opening night of Biohazard’s Divided We Fall Tour. Near capacity and by some accounts completely sold out, the venue was buzzing with anticipation. Hardcore pioneers Biohazard returned to the stage with their classic lineup, joined by hip-hop legends Onyx and rising hardcore outfit Bayway. The tour is a celebration of their iconic 1993 Judgment Night collaboration and a powerful reminder of their groundbreaking role in blending hardcore, metal, and hip-hop.
Inside the converted 800 person capacity church, excitement built as the haunting child-in-gas-mask imagery from Biohazard’s State of the World Address loomed on the sides of the stage. A classical intro gave way to an urban soundscape with sirens before the band stormed the stage. They launched into ‘Shades of Grey’ and followed it up with a thunderous ‘Wrong Side of the Tracks,’ instantly transporting the crowd back to the mid 90s. The mosh pit erupted and never really calmed down for the rest of the set.
Evan Seinfeld commanded the stage with veteran presence and introduced a new track called “Fuck the System” from their upcoming album Divided We Fall. The new material, including ‘Forsaken’ and ‘Eyes on Six,’ blended seamlessly into the set, showing that Biohazard is not relying on nostalgia. Their sound remains urgent and raw, and the crowd responded with nonstop energy.
Fan favorites like ‘What Makes Us Tick’ and ‘Five Blocks to the Subway’ kept the floor moving while circle pits spun and fists flew. The band closed with a devastating combo of ‘Punishment’ and ‘Hold My Own,’ with ‘Punishment’ drawing the most chaotic reaction of the night. Billy Graziadei stepped onto the crowd mid-song and was held aloft as he played, though the landing back to the stage looked a little rough. Danny Schuler’s relentless drumming was a driving force all night, intense enough to require a snare replacement after “Urban Discipline.” Bobby Hambel shredded up front and regularly leaned into the audience or spun in place while hammering out riffs.
The only stumble came before “Victory,” as technical issues caused a brief delay. Understandable for the first night of the tour. Seinfeld later addressed the genre-crossing legacy of the band before diving into “How It Is,” originally featuring Cypress Hill’s Sen Dog and House of Pain’s DJ Lethal. While fans were clearly hoping Onyx might join Biohazard on stage for a live “Slam” or “Judgment Night” collab, that moment never came. Given it was the first night, the potential remains for future dates.

Onyx took the stage earlier in the night and delivered a half-hour of unrelenting hardcore energy. Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz tore through tracks from their platinum debut Bacdafucup including “Throw Ya Gunz,” “Stik N Muve,” and “Da Mad Face Invasion.” Their entourage added to the chaos, passing around liquor, smoking, and even taking turns freestyling on stage. Sticky and Fredro worked the crowd with veteran skill, even crediting Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain as inspiration for their biggest hit “Slam,” which had the venue bouncing.

Bayway kicked things off with a brutal warmup set that gave the mosh pit crew a chance to get into full gear. The New Jersey band tore through songs from their EPs and their newest release, The Recipe Vol. 1, with relentless energy. Bayway chants and Jersey pride rang out between songs, adding a hometown feel to a night already steeped in scene loyalty.
Biohazard’s return is more than just a reunion. This tour is a statement that their hybrid of hardcore, metal, and hip-hop still hits with the same urgency it did decades ago. With a new album dropping in just a few weeks and a tour that promises more surprises, they have proven that their influence remains as real and relevant as ever.
