Saint Asonia Co-Headline tour with Black Stone Cherry
What started out as a wildly warm day in late February for Buffalo, NY quickly turned into near white out conditions later in the evening due to a fast approaching lake effect storm did not prevent fans of Saint Asonia and Black Stone Cherry. The bands were scheduled to play a co-headline show at the historic Town Ballroom in Buffalo’s theatre district.
Fans were treated to a variety of songs from spanning all 4 Saint Asonia albums as well as a few from Adam’s time fronting 3 Days Grace. Adam Gontier and fellow bandmates, include his cousin and bassist Cale Gontier, fill in touring guitarist Tavis Stanley, and drummer Cody Watkins. Open the set with, Above It All, the band showed there were no plans of holding back and came to rock.
The Canadian-American band mixed old with new into the set, including their Weeknd cover of Blinding Lights off Saint Asonia’s 2022 album Introvert/Extrovert. My personal favorite of the night was Adam’s 2007 collaboration with Finnish cello metal band Apocalyptica, I Don’t Care, from the album World’s Collide. However, quite possibly the biggest hit of the evening was the 3 Days Grace song Riot. The crowd went wild at the first note. Despite, gaining his fame from his time in another band, Gontier has definitely found himself a solid following even without ever having to perform songs from that era. Saint Asonia have a catalog of great rock songs like Chew Me Up, The Hunted, and more.
They played for just over an hour, and not a moment of it was not a pure energy rock show. I would highly suggest making it out to a show, if the tour comes through your area.
