Queensryche open for Judas Priest in Albany, NY

Todd LaTorre – Queensryche – MVP Arena, Albany, NY

Queensryche once again opened for Judas Priest on the second leg of their 50 Metal Years tour. We were at the Albany, NY show at the MVP Arena to photograph the event.

10 years after taking over the role of vocalist, Todd LaTorre has just released his fourth album with the band, and their sixteenth overall, Digital Noise Alliance. Surprisingly, the band only played one song of the newest album on the second night of the tour. The seemed to be more focused on The Warning album, having played three songs from that era in their nine song setlist. The vibe that evening was of a crowd excited to see both bands. While La Torre was hitting those ultra high notes, guitarist Michael “Whip” Wilton was shredding on lead guitar with the help of Mike Stone carrying the riffs. Let us not leave out the rhythm section keeping the beat, drummer Casey Grillo joined by founding member Eddie Jackson on the low end. Despite the lineup changes, the band is as tight as they have always been and its hard to believe LaTorre is singing songs not written for him personally.
