The opening night of The End Tour arrived with plenty of anticipation at Town Ballroom, where Mammoth sold out the historic venue and kicked off the run in front of an energized Buffalo crowd. With support from 10 Years, the night carried the buzz that surrounds a band clearly moving into its next phase. At the center of it all was WolfgangVan Halen, who continues to step further into his own identity as a songwriter, guitarist, and bandleader.

The lights dimmed and the intro tape rolled through the room before the opening riff of “One of a Kind” broke the silence. Wolfgang walked onstage in all black, his bright yellow guitar garnering all the attention quickly. The presentation was simple and direct. No elaborate production, just a band ready to play. His voice came through clearly, and the crowd responded immediately as the song settled into its driving groove.

Without pause the band moved into “Another Celebration at the End of the World,” a track that has quickly become a centerpiece of the Mammoth catalog. The tight riff and strong chorus pulled the audience in, with fans raising their fists and singing along. Wolfgang looked out over the crowd with a grin as the energy in the room continued to build.

“The Spell” followed and shifted the mood slightly with its darker tone. The band locked into a steady rhythm while Wolfgang layered textured guitar lines over the groove. The performance showed the group’s range while keeping the set moving forward.

Between songs Wolfgang paused to joke with the crowd about not needing artificial intelligence to write good music before launching into “Stone.” The heavy riff filled the room as red lighting washed over the stage. The chorus landed with force and the audience answered loudly. When the final notes rang out, Wolfgang stood still for a moment as the feedback faded, letting the song close naturally.

Throughout the night the band focused on tight playing rather than flash. There were no extended displays meant purely to impress, just a performance built on strong songwriting and solid musicianship. The live lineup has grown into a cohesive unit, with guitarists Frank Sidoris and Jonathan Jourdan filling out the arrangements while Ronnie Ficarro anchored the low end. From behind the kit, Garrett Whitlock drove the songs forward and kept the rhythm section locked in.

“Like a Pastime” arrived with a sharp rhythmic drive that highlighted Wolfgang’s background as a drummer. His playing kept the riff moving with precision while his vocals carried over the top. The band sounded locked in as the crowd followed along.

When Wolfgang introduced “Mammoth,” the title track from his debut album Mammoth WVH, he told the audience this was where the project began. The crowd responded with loud applause and many fans sang along, turning the moment into a reminder of how far the band has come.

The set also included the live debut of “Something New.” The song built gradually before opening into a longer solo section that allowed Wolfgang to stretch out musically, drawing strong applause from the crowd as the song reached its peak.

The band delivered an encore that kept the room energized. “Don’t Back Down” kicked it off, sparking instant cheers as the audience sang along to nearly every word. Wolfgang looked out over the crowd with a wide smile as the band pushed through the final stretch of the night.

The evening closed with “The End,” the song that lends its name to the tour. The track built toward a final swell before settling into a quiet closing chord. Wolfgang leaned into the microphone, offered a simple thank you, and raised his guitar to the crowd. There was no dramatic finish, just a confident band closing the first night of the tour in front of a packed Buffalo audience.
