L.A. Guns’ Unforgettable Hit and Run Performance in North Tonawanda, NY

Sleaze rockers, L.A. Guns prove they still have all the grit and grime that made them a staple of 80’s Sunset Strip scene. Heading out to promote their brand new release, Leopard Skin, the rocked the historic Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda, NY – just outside of Buffalo.

Vocalist Phil Lewis and guitarist Tracii Guns make for an undisputed musical match, complimented by rhythm guitarist Ace Von Johnson, bassist Johnny Martin, and drummer Shawn Duncan. The band is no stranger to line up changes over their 40+ year career, however this line up is unyielding and the proof is in the pudding..or well, their live show anyhow. They performed a 13 song set for fans that decided on an evening out, despite it being mid week. The venue was about three fourths full, yet had the venue sounding filled to capacity when it came to excitement of singing along.
The band’s latest release, Leopard Skin, the 15th studio release { 5th since the powerhouse that is Lewis and Guns, reunited} does not fall short of great tracks, proving the band is only getting better with age. With such a varied inventory of songs to choose from, their set touches on some of the expected hits like, Sex Action and The Ballad of Jayne, as well as some more recent fan favorites like, Speed and Cannonball, and of course a few brand new tunes. In fact, fans in attendance this evening at the beautiful West Herr Riviera Theatre were treated to Hit and Run, having only played this song live once previous. Lewis commented multiple times on the building and how grateful he was to the audience for the years of support.
Highlights off the evening, aside from the setlist, included the solos each band member performed after Lewis introduced each of them, as well as the silly dance the band does while the lights go up to signify the end of the show. The name of the tour is aptly named, Lucky Motherfucker Tour. Always entertaining, L.A. Guns is worth checking out every chance you get, lucky mf’ers.
