Jinjer Headline the Rapids Theatre in Niagara Falls, NY
Jinjer, while out on the road opening for Disturbed, decided to use their time off in between dates to play a handful of headline shows. Niagara Falls, NY lucked out and hosted the Ukrainian metal band on a Friday night in August.
The Rapids Theatre was jam packed with eager fans, a lot of whom would be witnessing the charisma of lead singer, Tatiana Shmailyuk, and fellow bandmates for the very first time. Something would soon not forget.
Shmailyuk, mesmerized the crowd belting out one intense song to another. Being the first time Jinjer had played the area did not stop the crowd from knowing nearly every song performed. A quick glance around the venue allowed for one to notice a sea of Jinjer t-shirts moving along to the music.
Tatiana is joined by guitarist, Roman Ibramkhalilov, drummer, Vlad Ulasevich and bass player, Eugene Abdukhanov to form a very tight unit. They didn’t speak much between songs, however there really was no need to fill empty space. The set was heavy on their 2021 release, Wallflowers, as to be expected. The list included songs such as Vortex, Wallflower, Sleep of the Righteous, and As I Boil Ice. I was surprised to see Pisces, off 2016’s King of Everything, was missing from the set.
A few years ago I caught Jinjer in a small club in Rochester, NY and I can tell you they are only getting better. I look forward to their return, on a full fledged headlining tour. Opening slot on the Disturbed tour is hopefully going to get them the acknowledgement they deserve.
