Jerry Cantrell ‘Brighten’ tour – Buffalo, NY
Founding member of one of thee most iconic bands born of the grunge era, Jerry Cantrell brought his solo project to Buffalo’s Town Ballroom. Celebrating his third solo album, Brighten, Cantrell hit the road with fellow Seattle band, Thunderpussy, as openers.
Joining Cantrell on tour, most notably, was vocalist Greg Puciato, formerly of Dillinger Escape Plan. Puciato did an amazing job singing the Alice In Chains songs they performed. In fact, he did not just sing them with Layne Staley in mind, he seemed to own all nine of them, that evening. The band even dug out a deep AIC cut, Whale & Wasp, for the first song of the encore.
They flowed seamlessly back and forth between fan favorites and Cantrell’s solo songs. The crowd really got into the moment, they sang along to the every song in the set. Surprisingly, not many phones were being held up, recording every moment. Everyone, in the sold out venue, was truly involved in the moment, as it was happening in front of them.
The day before had been Cantrell’s birthday, a fact the crowd did not let go unnoticed. They sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to a very grateful Jerry.
