Gunshine Bring Southern Swagger To Webster, NY

Gunshine – Buntsy’s Bandwagon, Webster, NY

On a summer night at Buntsy’s Bandstand, a cozy and no frills bar in Webster, NY, Florida based rock outfit Gunshine delivered a performance that was anything but small scale. The intimate venue pulsed with energy as the high octane band lit up the stage with their signature blend of Southern grit and ’80s inspired rock swagger.

Hailing from Florida’s panhandle, Gunshine may be relatively new to the scene, but their loyal and growing fanbase tells a different story. Led by former New Year’s Day guitarist Austin Ingerman, the band roared through a 15-song set that showcased not only technical prowess but a deep understanding of classic rock showmanship.

Ingerman’s blistering guitar solos stood out throughout the night, executed with the confidence of a seasoned performer and the fire of someone with something to prove. His fretwork was especially sharp during the fan-favorites “Wall Said To Call,” and “Something Real” which had the crowd singing along.

Frontman Jordan Benson, who joined the band after an exhaustive search, proved he was more than up to the task. With magnetic stage presence and a voice that soared effortlessly over the band’s thunderous sound, Benson commanded attention from start to finish. One of the night’s most surprising moments came when he stepped behind a piano to perform a heartfelt cover of Crosby, Stills & Nash’s “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.” It was an unexpected, yet well received, moment of calm in an otherwise electrifying set.

The new track “Shark Lounge,” a nod to the band’s Daytona Beach roots, gave fans an exciting preview of their upcoming release. Judging by the song’s infectious energy and groove, Gunshine’s future looks bright.

The rhythm section, featuring Jake Tripp on bass and Tommy Salzberg on drums, provided a rock solid foundation. Both musicians kept the energy high while maintaining tight control, and Salzberg took the spotlight for a dynamic drum solo that drew loud cheers from the crowd.

The set also featured their latest single “Bayou,” a fiery anthem that perfectly captures the band’s identity: gritty, melodic, and unapologetically fun. “Swing Away” was dedicated to Benson’s grandmother whom he quickly explained was a victim of bullying.

In a world filled with nostalgia acts and sound-alikes, Gunshine sets themselves apart by honoring their influences while staying true to their own sound. Their live performance is raw, loud, and undeniably engaging.

Gunshine isn’t just a band to keep an eye on; they’re a band you need to experience live. Catch them in intimate venues while you still can, because it won’t be long before they’re headlining much bigger stages.
