On Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto, Big Wreck returned home to deliver a performance that was equal parts celebration, reflection, and raw sonic power. The multi platinum Canadian rock icons took the stage to showcase their latest album The Rest of the Story, set for release the following day. The evening also doubled as Cureapalooza v7, a fundraising event benefiting Make A Wish Canada, further proof that Big Wreck’s heart is as big as their sound.

Opening the night, Watchmen vocalist Danny Greaves delivered a captivating solo set that set the tone for the evening. Performing on piano, Greaves offered heartfelt renditions of Something in the Orange by Zach Bryan, All Uncovered and Soft Parade by The Watchmen, The Highwayman by Jimmy Webb, Balancing by Doctor, and introduced his brand new solo song James. He also performed Any Day Now from The Watchmen catalog before closing his set with a powerful rendition of Stereo, showcasing his emotive vocals and intimate connection with the audience.

From the first note, Ian Thornley and company proved why they have remained a cornerstone of Canadian rock for nearly three decades. Their signature blend of hard rock precision and progressive experimentation was on full display, with long, immersive tracks met with stunning musicianship and a fearless willingness to stretch beyond convention.

Thornley’s unmistakable guitar tone and powerhouse vocals set the tone early, blending technical mastery with raw emotion in a way few frontmen can. His haunting delivery carried every syllable with gravity, stopping the audience in their tracks. The darker stage lighting and moody atmosphere amplified the band’s intensity, creating a brooding, immersive experience that drew the crowd deep into their world.

Throughout the night, Big Wreck breathed new life into familiar favorites, bending chords and shifting vocal runs to create something both nostalgic and fresh, painting new colors onto old canvases. Each song felt like an emotional excavation, pulling something deeply human to the surface.

While Thornley is not one for onstage banter, his music did all the talking. At moments, the audience’s voices rose above the band, a testament to the deep roots Big Wreck has planted in its fanbase.

The lineup featured Ian Thornley on lead vocals, guitar, and keyboards, Dave McMillan on bass and backing vocals, Chris Caddell on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Paulo Neta on lead and rhythm guitar and backing vocals, and Sekou Lumumba on drums. Together they delivered a sonically stunning performance that reaffirmed Big Wreck’s status as masters of their craft.

A time capsule of 90s rock grit fused with modern sophistication, The Rest of the Story and the night that launched it served as both a reminder of where Big Wreck has been and a thrilling preview of where they are headed next. The band showcased several new songs from the upcoming album, including Dog With A Gun, Around, and Believer, each met with the same roaring enthusiasm as their classic material. They closed out the night with a dynamic performance of their latest single, classic rock infused Holy Roller, featuring “special guest vocalist CC”, whose playful energy added a fresh spark and left the crowd buzzing long after the final note faded.
