Thursday night, the second floor of Toronto’s gritty and bare boned Hard Luck Club came alive with sound, sweat and celebration as Australian pop-metalcore outfit Melrose Avenue had a rare headlined show amidst their first North American tour supporting Ice Nine Kills. With a tight lineup consisting of Vlado Saric {vocals}, Shawn Mayer {vocals/guitar}, Mitchell Black {guitar} and Jed McIntosh {drums}, the band delivered an electrifying set that left no doubt about their star potential,

The venue’s intimate, no-frills setting proved the perfect match for Melrose Avenue’s brand of emotionally charged yet highly accessible metalcore. Adding to the already energy filled evening, it was also Vlado Saric’s birthday, igniting a celebratory spark to the special atmosphere. An audience member gifted him a playful IT’S MY BIRTHDAY sash, which Vlado happily wore with pride as the crowd broke out into a heartfelt Happy Birthday chant, It was one of the many moments that highlighted the strong connection already formed between band and fans.

The night also marked the live debut of the band’s newest single “24seven”, which was met with a roaring approval. Melodic hooks gave way to gut-punching screams, showcasing Melrose Avenue’s knack for balancing vulnerability with integrity. Vlado’s dynamic presence and emotive vocal delivery were magnetic, while Mayer’s dual role as co-vocalist and guitarist added depth and dimension to the group’s sound. Black’s guitar work seamlessly shifted from delicate interludes to crushing riffs, while McIntosh’s precise hard hitting drumming anchored the performance with unrelenting momentum.

The crowd – mostly female and fully engaged – sang along to nearly every word, a testament to the band’s growing international following. Whether navigating melodic passages or explosive breakdowns, Melrose Avenue kept the energy raw, real, and relentlessly high.

Though the Toronto stop was their only Canadian date on this tour, it served as a proof that Melrose Avenue is more than ready for the global stage. With unlimited amounts of charisma, chemistry and a sound that blends aggression with heart, they are poised for a much broader recognition. If Thursday night was any indication, this is a band you should see now! The venues will only get bigger and tickets get harder to come by.
