Collective Soul Let It Flow in Erie, PA

Ed & Dean Roland, Collective Soul – Warner Theater, Erie, PA

Currently out on tour with Hootie & the Blowfish, Collective Soul took advantage of a night off to headline a show at the Warner Theater in Erie, PA. Out in support of Here to Eternity, the band’s 12th studio release, which hit the streets less than 6 weeks earlier. The band proved they still have what it takes to keep the crowd’s attention.

Collective Soul has consistently been a band that delivers a solid, entertaining live performance, and tonight was exactly that. Vocalist Ed Roland, donned in a hot pink suit and silver sneakers, danced and bounced around right from the first note and did not let up the entire show. They began the evening with not one but two songs off Here to Eternity – a pretty bold move, in my personal opinion, however, one that went over exceptionally well. The crowd ate it up without hesitation.

At one point Ed commented how they were at a loss on what to do with the size of the stage as they were used to all being crammed together as openers. Now with all the extra time allotment they decided to play a few songs they had not in years such as AYTA. They also snuck in a brand new, yet to be named, song that fans readily accepted. Of course, they also played their classics like, Shine, Gel, The World I Know and others. With such a vast catalog of hits it is not an easy task to put together a setlist, and somehow they seem to have accomplished just that. a great mixture of crowd pleasers plus new, not quite as well known yet hits.

I will always recommend heading out to a Collective Soul show, when given the opportunity. You will never walk away disappointed. Only complaint would be the show goes by too fast and I could watch them for at least another 90mins without realizing it. Ed’s Elvis-esque dance moves are always worth the price of admission alone.

Ed Roland is joined by his brother and guitarist Dean Roland, bass player Will Turpin, lead guitarist Jesse Triplett, as well as drummer, Johnny Rabb.
