Sebastian Bach Continues to Hold Onto the Dream

Sebastian Bach and band – Packard Music Hall, Warren, Ohio

Sebastian Bach hit the road in support of his latest release, Child Within the Man. Joining him on a seven week trek across the U.S. is the extremely charismatic band,The Bites. We caught the show within the first week of the tour in Warren, Ohio and can honestly say, anyone who passes on the opportunity is a fool. Bach is back and better than ever.

Friday night W.D. Packard Music Hall played host to Sebastian Bach’s What Do I Got To Lose? tour. Bach was a week into the tour when they arrived in Warren, Ohio and the venue quickly filled to near capacity with fans eager to hear Bach belt out their favorite songs. His latest album was also a week old and had rave reviews from those that had heard it. Hard to believe it had been ten years since we heard any new music from Bach.

What Do I Got To Lose, off Child Within the Man, started the show off strong, with Bach the quickly remind the crowd how covid robbed us all of a lot, which he parlayed into Skid Row’s Here I Am. He played a number of Skid Row classics and crowd favorites such as 18 & Life, Slave to the Grind, and Monkey Business to name a few. Sebastian proved he still had the ability to hold the notes, despite some critics, when he performed the now 35 year old explosive power ballad, I Remember You.

The title of his latest album seems very fitting, as it is almost hard to fathom Bach is not the 20 something year old that was all over Mtv in the early 90s. He still has the same sense of humor, something that think is very much overlooked by a lot of folks, he has the same drive and passion for music as he always has. His stage presence speaks volumes in that respect. Jokingly, he stated “People say ‘Sebastian, how are you gonna sing that music you recorded when you were 20 years old when you’re 56?’ And I say that’s not the hard part. The hard part is seeing what the next song is on the setlist.”

Currently sharing the stage with Sebastian is Paris Bach on drums, Clay Eubank on bass, Brody DeRozie on guitar. In my opinion having Bach’s son performing along side his father was not only a bit of a surprise, but a treat for long time fans. Fair to say, Eubanks, DeRozie and even the younger Bach definitely did an amazing job of supporting, arguably, one of the greatest vocalists of our generation.

At one point in the evening, they threw some of Rush’s Tom Sawyer into the middle of Monkey Business. They closed with the song that had become an anthem to many of us in attendance, Youth Gone Wild. The crowd erupted as, sadly, the evening came to an end.

My only complaints would be the lack of solo material Bach chose to put in his setlist. As much as I am a fan of his work from his time in Skid Row, I would have liked to see more off Angel Down or Give ‘Em Hell. However, all in all, it was a great evening watching Sebastian Bach truly enjoying himself on stage. I look forward to the next time Sebastian Bach and band come back around and would strongly suggest you do the same. I would also suggest everyone pick up the newest release, Child Within the Man.
